Jeanne Loring is Professor Emeritus at Scripps Research, CSO of Aspen Neuroscience, Scientific Director of Summit for Stem Cell Foundation, Research Fellow of the San Diego Zoo, Adjunct Professor (Human Genetics) at Sanford Burnham Prebys Discovery Research Institute, and Adjunct Professor, School of Public Health, SDSU.
Parkinson's disease: Development of an autologous dopamine neuron replacement therapy for PD using patient-specific induced pluripotent stem cells. Aspen Neuroscience is seeking FDA approval to start a clinical trial in 2020.
Multiple sclerosis: Developing a pluripotent stem cell-derived therapy for multiple sclerosis, based on work with mice published in 2014.
Fragile X syndrome/autism: Study of this genetic form of autism, using iPSCs from individuals with the disease, to determine the underlying cause of the disease and discover ways in which it can be treated.
