Researcher at Wellesley Institute
James Iveniuk is a sociologist who studies the impact of social networks, neighbourhood environments, and personality on health over the life course. He received his PhD from the University of Chicago in 2015, before accepting a CHIR post-doctoral research fellowship at the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health. His work has explored social networks in older adulthood, the consequences of relationship dynamics for social capital, as well as how neighbourhood change affects mental health during periods of economic downturn. Across numerous projects he has worked to translate sociological theory and methods into recommendations for policy and social programs. At the Wellesley Institute he works with the Supports for Success team, focusing on social network analyses.
