Jakob Jordan

Doctorate Student and Research Assistant at the Bern University

Jakob is a postdoctoral researcher in Walter Senn's lab at the University of Bern in Switzerland investigating error-driven learning in deep cortical microcircuits and the functional role of conductance-based synaptic coupling using mathematical and computational models. Prior to his current position he was a PhD student in Markus Diesmann's lab at the Research Centre Juelich, Germany, improving the scalability of the NEST simulator in the regime >10k MPI processes, while simultaneously exploring sampling-based models of probabilistic neural computation and their implementation in noisy, heterogeneous neuromorphic systems. Generally he is interested in the physiological basis of biological intelligence and the efficient implementation of computational principles in physical substrates.
