Institute which promotes training and research for an improved global policy on ageing.
Population ageing is a reality, happening all over the globe at various levels of development, it is progressing fastest in developing countries, including in countries with large populations of young people. In keeping with INIA's mission statement and mandate aimed at developing better qualified and trained personnel in the field of ageing, INIA organises a number of training programmes on an annual basis. These programmes, which take place either in Malta or in-situ, are either self funded or supported by UNFPA. Having trained over 2,095 participants over 141 countries in its short and long term courses, as well as having carried out 96 'in-situ' training programmes in 27 different countries, thus training another 3,009 professionals in the field of ageing. With such a formidable achievement over its life course INIA has successfully acquired unique experience and expertise in organising and conducting training programmes in various areas of policy development, services and practice. -INIA's driving force is carried out by directly fulfilling the United Nations mandate on training on ageing, as well as promoting and facilitating the implementation of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing.
