Douglas Vaughan
Chair in Department of Medicine at Northwestern University.
My primary clinical interest is in adult cardiovascular disease. My practice has focused on the management and treatment of patients with coronary artery disease. I am also interested in the diagnosis and management of arterial thrombosis. My research interests align with these clinical interests. My primary investigative focus is and has been on the mammalian plasminogen activator system and the role this system plays in cardiovascular disease and aging. We apply a multidisciplinary strategy in this effort, and utilize molecular and cellular experimental approaches, while extending our investigations into animal models of disease and in distinct human populations.
