Emeritus Professor of Medical Physics
Professor David Lurie is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Aberdeen, where he previously held a Chair in Biomedical Physics from 2002 to 2021. He specializes in MRI technology, particularly in the development of Fast Field-Cycling MRI (FFC-MRI), a technique allowing for rapid switching of magnetic fields during scans. This innovation enhances clinical MRI by providing new contrast mechanisms. Over his career, he secured over £11.1 million in research grants and coordinated the EU-funded "IDentIFY" project. He has authored 91 peer-reviewed papers and delivered over 100 invited lectures worldwide. Professor Lurie holds several prestigious awards, including an Honorary Doctorate in 2022.
