Cheryl Rock

Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health at the UCSD.

Dr. Cheryl Rock has completed her PhD in Nutritional Sciences from University of Michigan. Dr. Rock has developed and conducted numerous clinical studies focused on understanding the associations between nutritional factors and risk and progression of chronic disease, biomarkers and risk factors. Dr. Rock has served as PI for several diet and weight loss interventions and clinical trials focused on the role of nutritional factors, diet, and obesity in the development and progression of cancer. She currently leads the Nutrition Shared Resource at the Moores UC San Diego Cancer Center, a recharge laboratory unit that conducts dietary assessments and quantitative biochemical analysis of dietary biomarkers and other factors in biological samples. Dietary biomarker studies that Dr. Rock has initiated or with which she has been involved have focused on carotenoids, vitamin D, folate, curcumin, polyamines and lipids.
