Professor and Director of the Center for Muscle Biology at University of Kentucky
Charlotte Peterson is the Joseph Hamburg Endowed Professor and Director of the Center for Muscle Biology at University of Kentucky. She will provide scientific oversite to a new NIH initiative through the Office of the Director’s Common Fund entitled “Molecular Transducers of Physical Activity Consortium” (MoTrPAC).
Peterson’s research focuses on elucidation of cellular and molecular mechanisms controlling skeletal muscle structure and function. Her long term goal is to develop new strategies to prevent frailty and loss of functional independence.
Peterson is a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America. She serves on external advisory committees for academic institutions nationally and internationally.
