Central University Hospital of Asturias (HUCA)

University hospital in Oviedo, Spain.

The Central University Hospital of Asturias (HUCA), located in Oviedo, is, together with the Monte Naranco Hospital, the hospital of the Sanitary Area IV and reference in the Health Service of the Principality of Asturias (SESPA) It also includes the Institute National Silicosis, national reference unit for respiratory diseases of occupational origin.

HUCA was founded on December 13, 1989, by agreement between the regional administration and INSALUD, an agreement that was replaced by a later one, dated December 30, 1994.

Through these agreements, the management of the three centers that gave rise to the hospital complex was integrated: the Hospital Nuestra Señora de Covadonga, the National Institute of Silicosis, both of Social Security, and the General Hospital of Asturias, owned by the Community Autonomous of the Principality of Asturias.
