Ann Gallagher is Professor of Ethics and Care, International Care Ethics Observatory, School of Health Sciences in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences.
Ann is a Fulbright Scholar and Editor-in-Chief of international journal Nursing Ethics with 2019 impact factor of 2.597 (ranked 5/121 in nursing and 6/55 in ethics and first quartile in both fields). She is author of over 160 publications (58 peer-reviewed & 6 books). She has extensive experience and expertise in research methodologies (qualitative, philosophical and mixed methods) and is an experienced PhD supervisor and examiner. Ann has a track record of national and international interdisciplinary research focusing on understanding an illuminating ethical and unethical care, for example, relating to dignity in care, ethics education and professional regulation.
Ann's general/adult nursing career began in Belfast during ‘The Troubles’ and she then qualified as a mental health nurse. In 2019 she received the Award of Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing (the highest RCN award for services to nursing) demonstrating her outstanding professional profile.
