Alex heads up the IoT technology programme at Digital Catapult, leading a team of talented IoT technologists and engineers with the mission to deploy IoT “stuff that works” and which makes a big difference to UK businesses and organisations. His role involves a range of activities from applying emerging IoT technologies to real world problems, translating research into prototypes, demonstrators and pilots, finding early technology adopters, co-creating new testbeds and accelerator programmes to help innovators leverage IoT technology, running meetup events, in order foster synergies and knowledge exchange within the tech community. Alex holds a PhD from the University of Surrey in mobile networked systems and has worked for more than a decade with IoT technologies, first on their conception and research in academia, and later at companies such as Ericsson and Intel Labs. He has more than 80 peer-reviewed publications and gives regular keynote speeches in his field.
