Alan Maisel

Co-founder, CMO and Chairman of the Board at Brainstorm Medical. Former professor at UCSD.

A world renowned cardiologist, Alan is credited with bringing the BNP biomarker to use, and is a highly sought-after speaker at international cardiology conventions. Over a 35 year academic and clinical career, he has published more than 500 peer-reviewed papers. Alan is a serial life sciences entrepreneur.

He attended Michigan State University as a double major in Chemistry and Psychology and graduated in the top 1 percent of his class and served as President of his fraternity, Sigma Alpha Mu (sammies). Alan attended Medical School at University of Michigan from 1974-1978. This is where he became interested in Cardiology, was voted class speaker at medical school graduation and stayed in Ann Arbor.

He chose Michael Reese Hospital for his residency, which was a south side of Chicago Medical Center affiliate of University of Chicago. It was there that he was inspired in creating material for his two novels, "Bedside Manners" and "Brain Chicane' he stayed an extra year to be Chief Medical Resident.
