Reports that frequent drinking prevents diabetes are inaccurate

People were only asked about their drinking habits and other lifestyle choices at a single time point.

Confounding factors (such as diet and exercise) may not have been recorded in enough detail to be useful.

Study did not distinguish between type 1 and type 2 diabetes (which have different causes).
