Insights from the 4th longevity investors conference - future health & longevity

The event's success fuels optimism for future longevity awareness events

16-Oct-2023

This year, from September 27th to 29th, the picturesque town of Gstaad, Switzerland, played host to the 4th Longevity Investors Conference (LIC).

The conference brought together visionaries, scientists, industry leaders, and global investors for an exchange of ideas in the health and ageing sector.

Prominent speakers like David A. Sinclair, Alex Zhavoronkov, Nir Barzilai, and Eric Verdin were present at the event.

LIC featured various tracks on biotechnology, agetech, diagnostics, AI, health prevention, longevity therapies, and investment strategies.

Diverse Insights and Expertise

The conference covered a diverse array of topics, including talks by David Sinclair on "The Information Theory of Ageing" and Eric Verdin on "What is Longevity," insights from Bryan Johnson on longevity-supporting technologies, Tobias Reichmuth's exploration of the importance of company building and venture studios in longevity, Evelyne Yehudit Bischof's discussion on practical longevity medicine applications, Amy Killen's examination of exponential technologies in sexual health and their impact on longevity, Alex Zhavoronkov's insights into the synergy of AI and longevity, and discussions on biotech versus non-biotech investments led by Marc P. Bernegger and Alexandra Bause.

Investment Opportunities in Longevity

A key highlight of the LIC was the participation of over 80 global investors, who, along with the speakers, had the chance to witness the Startup Showcase, organised in collaboration with Phil Newman from Longevity Technology, featuring longevity startups like Myriam Merarchi, Robin Mansukhani, Jonathan Rees, Thomas Lechner, Rafael M. Bottos, Rene Anand, and Dr. Wareed Alenaini showcasing their healthcare and ageing visions.

Celebrating Achievements

The LIC concluded with the 'Maximon Longevity Prize' Award Ceremony where three projects were recognized: Maurice Michel received the first prize for his healthspan-extending research, Dr. Philip Atherton from the University of Nottingham claimed the second prize for his work on mTOR inhibition, and the third prize was awarded to Dr. Jorge Sanz-Ros and Consuelo Borrá for their innovative approach to healthy ageing using stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) in Avea Life's supplement subscription.

A Glimpse into the Future

In his closing remarks, Marc P. Bernegger emphasised the increasing interest of traditional investors in the longevity space, creating massive investment opportunities.

Dr. Tobias Reichmuth added that the longevity industry is expected to be worth at least $600 billion by 2025, and the momentum it's currently experiencing makes it an ideal time to educate and share information with investors.

Davos Awaits: The Longevity Investors Lunch

As the momentum in the longevity industry continues to surge, the Longevity Investors Lunch at the prestigious World Economic Forum in Davos on January 16th in the exclusive Hotel Seehof, promises another gathering of visionaries and pioneers.
