Human brain connected to the internet for the first time ever

Brainternet seeks to simplify a person’s understanding of their own brain and the brains of others

14-Sep-2017

Key points from article :

Brainternet is a new frontier in brain-computer interface systems.

Researchers take brainwave EEG signals gathered by an EEG device and connect them to the user’s head.

Signals then are been transmitted to a low-cost Raspberry Pi computer.

Collected data lifestreams to an application programming interface and displays on an open website.

The team is now aiming to allow for a more interactive experience between the user and their brain.

In the future, Brainternet can be improved to classify recordings through a smartphone app.

Data collected from this project can help us understand how our minds work and how to take advantage of that.

Researchers are from the University of the Witwatersrand.

The study was published in Medical Xpress.
