Alternative therapeutic strategy for hair regrowth using stem cells

Clinical trial in androgenetic alopecia patients show an increase in hair density, thickness

Adipose tissue-derived stem cells (ADSCs) secrete several growth hormones.

These growth factors increase size of the hair follicle during hair development.

Efficacy, tolerability of ADSC extract in middle-aged patients with AGA, assessed.

Recruited 29 men, 9 women with AGA, assigned half to receive ADSC topical soultion.

Other half as a control group that received a placebo.

Application to scalp was done twice daily, using their fingers.

In 16 weeks, ADSC group had significant increase in hair count, follicle diameter.
