Vânia's work combines distinct areas of research to study how the impact and regulation of gene expression, particularly by epigenetics, could meet current needs in medicine. Her research has been interdisciplinary and allowed her to develop and refine conceptual and technical skills in complementary areas including genetics, epigenetics, bioinformatics, and molecular, cell and animal biology.
