Professor of Epidemiology at Oxford Population Health
Professor Cornelia van Duijn is a leading epidemiologist at Oxford Population Health and a Fellow of St Cross College, Oxford. She co-leads the Health Data Research UK (HDR UK) Oxford Region and conducts research at the Oxford Big Data Institute. Her work focuses on large-scale -omics studies of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease, as well as ophthalmological conditions like glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration. Additionally, she investigates systemic vascular, endocrine, and gastrointestinal pathologies relevant to brain and ocular health. Professor van Duijn has played a pivotal role in international consortia, including ENGAGE, CHARGE, and IGAP, and currently leads the Horizon2020 CoSTREAM consortium and the MEMORABEL Gut-Brain consortium. She is a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Netherlands Council for Medical Sciences. Her academic background includes studies in Human Nutrition, Mathematical Statistics, Genetics, and Epidemiology.
