Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy
Dr. Qihao Wu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. His research focuses on how gut microbes metabolize foreign compounds like drugs and dietary substances, and how this affects human health. He also applies omics technologies to discover new bioactive compounds from marine and human-associated microbes for drug development. Dr. Wu earned his Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry through a joint program between Zhejiang University of Technology and the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, and completed postdoctoral training at Yale University. His work has led to the characterization of over 100 bioactive compounds and earned him multiple awards, including Yale’s Best Poster Presentation Award and the Outstanding Ph.D. Thesis Award from Zhejiang University of Technology.
