Oleh Lushchak is an Associated Professor and Principal Investigator at Precarpathian National University in Ivano-Frankivsk (Ukraine). His work is related with the molecular mechanism of aging and how physiological traits like feeding and reproduction affect the lifespan and are changed during the aging. He is looking for interventions to extend the lifespan and healthspan and was among first to show that dietary composition rather than total caloricity affects the lifespan. Recently, he discovered the molecule able to increase learning ability and extend memory in elder organisms. This molecule also extends the lifespan in very low concentrations in wild type animals and models of neurodegenerations. In comparison with most affective geroprotector rapamycin it has no side effects and is 20000 times cheaper.
