James Monaghan is a Professor of Biology at Northeastern University and director of its Institute for Chemical Imaging of Living Systems. His lab focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of complex tissue regeneration—using the remarkable axolotl salamander to study how nerves, stem cells, and specific genes enable regrowth of limbs, spinal cords, hearts, and retinas.
