Dean Burnett is a Welsh neuroscientist, author, blogger, and occasional comedian, known for his engaging and humorous approach to science communication. Born and raised in Pontycymer, a former mining village in the South Wales valleys, he developed a strong Welsh accent and a unique sense of humor influenced by his early life experiences.
Burnett has an extensive background in neuroscience, having earned his PhD and served as a tutor and lecturer. He is an honorary research associate at Cardiff University’s Psychology School. Beyond academia, he has gained recognition as a science communicator, contributing to various media platforms and publications. Notably, he authored the popular Guardian Science blog "Brain Flapping," now continued as "Brain Yapping" on the Cosmic Shambles Network, accompanied by a podcast
