Chris Simms is an assistant news editor at New Scientist, where he has worked for over a decade. He began his tenure as chief subeditor and previously served as a senior subeditor at Nature. He holds a degree in zoology from Queen Mary University of London. In recent years, he has written extensively for New Scientist and was shortlisted for Best Newcomer at the Association of British Science Writers awards in 2018. While he covers a broad range of scientific topics, he has a particular interest in biology, food, drink, history, politics, and exercise.
