Biotech firm raises $18 million to help the body heal itself

Pandorum Technologies secures new funding to develop “programmable” treatments that could repair damaged eyes and other organs

Key points from article :

The biotech company Pandorum Technologies has just raised $18 million (£14.5 m) in a funding round to help move its medical research closer to real patient use. The company is working on what it calls “programmable regenerative medicine”, which means it’s trying to develop treatments that can help the body heal damaged tissues and organs by guiding the cells back to a healthy state.

Their most advanced project, called Kuragenx, aims to treat serious eye problems like corneal blindness with a kind of “liquid cornea”*made from tiny natural particles (called exosomes) that may encourage the eye to rebuild itself. So far, this has shown promising results in early studies, and the new money will support clinical trials and help increase manufacturing and global operations. Pandorum also plans to use this technology to work on diseases in other organs beyond the eyes.
