Machine learning researcher and Group Lead at the Arc Institute
Yusuf Roohani is a machine learning researcher and Group Lead at the Arc Institute, where he focuses on developing AI models to simulate biological systems, particularly virtual cells that predict gene expression changes under genetic or chemical perturbations. He earned his PhD in Biomedical Data Science at Stanford University, working under Jure Leskovec and Stephen Quake, and holds a visiting appointment in Stanford’s Computer Science department. His research spans several high-impact areas, including the development of open-source tools like GEARS, SATURN, UCE, and BioDiscoveryAgent, which have received awards and wide adoption in the scientific community.
