VentriJect, a young health-technology spinout from Aalborg University in Denmark, has raised €1.7 million to support the rollout of its device that estimates cardiorespiratory fitness without requiring a person to exercise. The team built a small sensor system called Seismofit, which relies on seismocardiography to pick up tiny chest movements from each heartbeat and then uses its own algorithm to calculate VO₂ max in about three minutes.
The new funding round was led mainly by existing backers, including Denmark’s Export and Investment Fund, TechStation, Investo Capital, and private investor Carsten Stendevad, with the goal of growing sales in Europe and preparing for entry into the United States. Company leaders say the work is driven by the rising interest in preventive health, and early demand has come from fitness centers, clinics, and partners across several EU countries.
The device is already CE-marked and being distributed in Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK, with talks underway with additional healthcare providers. The company’s technology matured rapidly after its founding in 2018 and is now attracting attention as part of a wider surge in Nordic health-tech investment.
