Researcher at IMB
Maria Felicia Basilicata is a Group Leader at the University Medical Center (UMC) in Mainz, Germany, specializing in the epigenetics of neurodevelopmental disorders. Her research focuses on how mutations in chromatin-related genes influence cellular function and contribute to disease. She explores gene expression, organelle interactions, and metabolic factors, particularly sex-based disease variability and developmental timing. Her lab employs CRISPR, transcriptomics, proteomics, and various stem cell models to investigate chromatinopathies. Previously a Senior Research Associate at the Institute of Molecular Biology in Mainz, Basilicata holds a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Freiburg and an MSc in Medical Biotechnology from the University of Naples.
