Dr. Latha Palaniappan, MD, MS, is a Professor of Medicine at Stanford University and Associate Dean for Research, whose work bridges cardiology, epidemiology, and population health. She is renowned for her efforts to address chronic diseases—such as diabetes, hypertension, and obesity—among diverse and often underrepresented populations, particularly Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. As co-founder of Stanford’s Center for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Health Research and Education (CARE) and co-director of the Stanford Biobank, she leads initiatives spanning pharmacogenomics, precision medicine, and implementation science. A recipient of prestigious awards—including a Fulbright Distinguished Chair and NIH midcareer funding—she also mentors the next generation of clinical investigators while pioneering community-tailored lifestyle and genomic testing programs.
