Swedes and Italians to swap lives for three months for a study into longevity

16-Oct-2017

Key points from article :

Around 200 residents of the Swedish city of Malmö will live with host families in Cilento on Italy’s southeastern coast, while the same number of Italians will relocate to Malmö.

The aim of this project is to find out the secret of longetivity of Italians. Participants in the research will live with host families who will show them how to live – and eat – like locals.

Researchers are comparing diets and other lifestyle factors of 1,000 people from each of the regions.

In the study's second phase, these results will be compared with those from tests carried out in the 1990s.
