Professor at University of Adelaide and Monash University
Jose Polo is recruited to the University of Adelaide as the inaugural Director of the Adelaide Centre for Epigenetics (ACE) and group leader of the recently established South Australian Immunogenomics Cancer Institute (SAiGENCI). He is currently a professor of epigenetics at University of Adelaide, as well as professor in anatomy & developmental Biology and biochemistry & molecular Biology at Monash University. His work is mainly focused on the acquisition of immortality and the existence of epigenetic memory during reprogramming.
Polo graduated from Buenos Aires University as a Biochemist. In 2002, Jose began his graduate studies at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York. In 2008, he obtained his PhD at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute to work on reprogramming of adult cells into induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells.
