Jana Buzkova
COO and Co-Founder of NADMED
Jana Buzkova is the Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of NADMED, where she has been leading operations since January 2022. NADMED, a spin-out from the University of Helsinki, focuses on developing innovative technologies for measuring NAD+ levels in blood to advance health diagnostics. Jana has also been serving as a Project Planner at the University of Helsinki since 2019, where she continues her academic involvement.
Jana holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Helsinki (2010-2019), with her research centered on the metabolic and molecular consequences of mitochondrial dysfunction in both mitochondrial disease and acquired obesity. She also earned a Master of Science (MSc) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Charles University (2006-2009), during which she conducted exchange research at the University of Helsinki, focusing on mitochondrial disease in transgenic mice models. Her work includes significant contributions to molecular neurology, including the detection of DARS2 mutations in multiple sclerosis patients. Jana’s diverse background in molecular biology, neurology, and mitochondrial research has equipped her with extensive experience in both academic and biotech sectors.
