Professor of Health Services, Policy and Practice at the Brown University School of Public Health
Irene Papanicolas, Ph.D., is a health economist and researcher specializing in health system performance assessment and international comparisons. She serves as a Professor of Health Services, Policy and Practice at the Brown University School of Public Health and directs the Center for Health System Sustainability. Papanicolas leads the International Collaborative on Costs, Outcomes and Needs in Care (ICCONIC), a consortium of 16 partners across North America, Europe, and the Pacific focused on understanding health service utilization, costs, and outcomes for high-need, high-cost patients. Her work has informed performance measurement efforts of organizations such as the WHO, OECD, and the European Commission.
