Professor of Cell Biology at the School of Biochemistry at the University of Bristol
Ashley Toye is a Professor of Cell Biology at the School of Biochemistry at the University of Bristol. He is the Director of the NIHR Blood and Transplant Research Unit in Red Cell Products at the University of Bristol and is responsible for conducting the RESTORE trial which is conducting a clinical assessment of laboratory-grown blood. Toye’s lab is focused on the culture of blood cells, particularly the manipulation and study of erythropoiesis in health and disease. He is also the co-founder of Scarlet Therapeutics, a spin-off company founded to develop novel RBC-based therapeutics.
Toye graduated with both BSc Hons and PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Bristol.
