Key points from article :
Patients Know Best (PKB), a leading provider of personal health records (PHRs), has secured £6 million in funding to scale its platform in the UK and expand internationally. The funding, provided by Growth Lending, will support PKB’s efforts to align with the UK government’s goal of digitizing all NHS patient records within the next decade. PKB’s platform integrates data from all GPs in England and 25% of UK hospitals, making it the world’s largest PHR system. Over 4.7 million patients are registered, accessing a unified health record and over 20 million test results monthly.
The platform, also integrated with the NHS App, addresses fragmented patient information to empower individuals with better control over their healthcare. Founder Mohammad Al-Ubaydli emphasized that the funding will help extend the platform’s reach and strengthen its role in improving care through digital solutions. Kimberly Martin, managing director at Growth Lending, highlighted the importance of PKB’s work amidst the NHS’s shift toward digitalization, efficiency, and patient-centered care.
These advancements coincide with the NHS’s forthcoming 10-year health plan, which focuses on three transformative shifts: from hospitals to community care, analogue to digital systems, and sickness to prevention. Public engagement platforms have been launched to shape this vision, and experts like Ming Tang and Dr. Tim Ferris are leading efforts to integrate data and technology into the plan.
