Sarah Culkin
Head of Analytics at NHSX.
Following a PhD in Chemistry, Sarah joined the Government Operational Research Service and held a range of analytical and research positions both at the Department of Health and in the NHS. In 2015 she established and led a Data Science Unit within the Department of Health where she developed, amongst other things, a project that used Google search
patterns to successfully predict hospital admissions for Pneumonia and the corresponding pressure on A&E over winter. Sarah is currently Strategic Data Lead at NHS England, where she is involved in establishing and supporting Data Science capacity, and is a member of a working party developing policy for AI in the NHS.
