Raeford E. Brown
Professor of Anesthesiology and Pediatrics at the University of Kentucky
Raeford Brown is a professor of anesthesiology and pediatrics. He received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and subsequently completed residencies in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. and anesthesiology at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Va. He completed fellowships in pediatric anesthesiology and critical care at Children’s Hospital National Medical Center.
Brown is board certified in anesthesiology as well as pediatrics. He is subspecialty board certified in pediatric anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Brown came to UK in 1998 from Arkansas Children’s Hospital and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Ark. From 1990 to 1998, he served as the Chief of Anesthesiology at Arkansas Children’s Hospital and as the executive vice chair of the Department of Anesthesiology. At UK, he has served as executive vice chair of the Department of Anesthesiology and as the Chief of Pediatric Anesthesiology. From 2004 to 2007, he served as a medical director of Perioperative Services at UK.
