Assistant Professor at MDI Biological Laboratory specializing in the mechanisms of ageing
Dr. Jarod A. Rollins is a principal investigator at the MDI Biological Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine, specializing in the molecular mechanisms of ageing. His research focuses on how genetic and environmental factors influence longevity, particularly through studies on the nematode C. elegans, a model organism in ageing research. In a notable study, Dr. Rollins and his colleagues discovered that simultaneously altering the insulin signaling (IIS) and TOR pathways in C. elegans extended the worms' lifespan by 500%, far exceeding the expected additive effects of modifying each pathway individually. This synergistic outcome suggests that targeting multiple ageing-related pathways concurrently could be a promising strategy for developing anti-ageing therapies .
