Ivy Shih is a science writer and communicator based in Sydney, Australia. A former virus researcher, she now writes about all areas of science – from coconut-cracking megabats to giant viruses. She specialises in life sciences and medicine, especially in virology, microbiology and immunology. Her writing has appeared in Publications such as COSMOS, Nature News, Nature Index, Australian Geographic, The Conversation Australia, Lateral Magazine and Australia Science Channel. Her articles have also been featured in The Best Australian Science Writing 2017, 2019 & 2020. She was also an editorial intern at The Conversation and Australian Geographic.
