Research institute in Groningen focused on aging research

European Research Institute for the Biology of Ageing (ERIBA), based in Groningen, is a multidisciplinary centre investigating why cells and tissues lose function with age and how that leads to disease. Their work spans multiple fronts—from non-dividing “post-mitotic” cells to stem cell renewal systems in regenerating tissues—and utilises cutting-edge technologies such as next-generation sequencing, live-cell imaging, and genetic models. ERIBA’s broad goal is to uncover the molecular and (epi)genetic mechanisms behind age-related decline, and thereby identify new strategies to promote healthy ageing and combat age-related diseases.
