Clinical lead for diabetes at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust
Dr. Dulmini Kariyawasam has been a consultant in Diabetes, Endocrinology, and General Internal Medicine at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust since 2010. She holds a Master’s in Diabetes and Endocrinology from King’s College London and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2015. Leading young adult diabetes and endocrine services, she specializes in managing type 1 and type 2 diabetes as well as a broad range of endocrine disorders. She collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care and has pioneered innovative care models, earning national recognition. As a Senior Lecturer at King’s College London, she leads undergraduate teaching in diabetes and endocrinology. Her clinical expertise spans endocrine conditions such as pituitary, adrenal, and reproductive disorders, with a focus on pubertal and growth-related issues. Her research interests include adolescent diabetes management, hypoglycemia, and patient education, and she is an active member of professional diabetes and endocrine societies.
