Associate Professor in Department of Medicine at Penn State University
Dr. Catharine I. Paules joined the faculty of the Penn State College of Medicine in July 2018. She is a clinician-investigator with a research focus on COVID-19, emerging respiratory viruses and infections in bone marrow transplant recipients.
Dr. Paules is the site principle investigator for the NIAID sponsored Adaptive COVID-19 treatment trial and the NIH sponsored ACTIV-5 / Big Effect Trial (BET-B) for the Treatment of COVID-19. She is also involved in the COVID-19 Project ECHO for Nursing Homes.
Dr. Paules is committed to the mentorship and teaching of medical students, residents, fellows and other trainees. She has multiple publications involving trainees and in 2021 a resident she mentored received the resident research award. Dr. Paules is also actively engaged in community education with involvement in infectious diseases educational forums and media outreach.
