The idea for Vitestro was conceived when Toon and Brian, entrepreneurs and business partners for many years, were discussing frustrations about the availability of care for their loved ones. In Toon's case, a friend's father was very difficult to puncture due to chemotherapy, while Brian's experienced long waiting times and logistic errors when one of his kids needed regular blood checkups.

These personal experiences led to discussions about the cornerstone of good patient care: blood analysis. Together the founders saw an opportunity to improve the standard of care by making a device that can draw blood  fully autonomous.
