Steve Humphries leads a group of clinicians, scientists and students at the Cardiovascular Genetics Centre at University College London. He obtained his PhD in Glasgow and following post-doctoral work in Utah, USA he worked at St Mary’s Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital and finally UCL Hospital Medical School. Steve’s current area of interest in identifying functional changes in candidate genes involved in determining risk of heart disease and applying this information in the development of diagnostic tests for risk stratifying patients in the general population. His other major interest is in applying molecular genetics methods to identification and management of patients with familial hypercholesterolemia.
