Physician-scientist in the Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine at the University of Washington
Dr. Shabnam Salimi is a physician-scientist and acting instructor in the Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine at the University of Washington. She is affiliated with the Mitochondria and Metabolism Center and the Healthy Aging & Longevity Research Institute. Dr. Salimi's research focuses on biological aging as a fundamental mechanism underlying chronic diseases. She employs omics tools, cell cultures, and animal models to validate findings from human aging studies. Her work includes the development of health algorithms across species to capture aging processes, such as PathoClock, PathoAge, PhysioClock, and PhysioAge in rodent models, as well as the Human Health Octo Tool (HOT) to assess human health .
