Professor Sanjay Popat is a Consultant Thoracic Medical Oncologist at The Royal Marsden Hospital and Professor of Thoracic Oncology at the Institute of Cancer Research. Internationally recognized for his expertise in lung cancer, mesothelioma, and thymic malignancies, he focuses on developing targeted therapies and advancing precision medicine through clinical trials. 

He chairs the British Thoracic Oncology Group (BTOG) and serves as Co-Director of the NIHR London South Clinical Research Network Cancer Division. Additionally, he is active in several international research organizations, including the European Thoracic Oncology Platform (ETOP) and the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC).
