Assistant Professor in NTU’s School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering
Guo Zhan Lum earned his B.Eng. (First Class Honours) in Mechanical Engineering from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in 2010, then pursued a dual Ph.D. program between NTU and Carnegie Mellon University, completing his M.Sc. in 2015 and dual Ph.D. in 2016. He went on to conduct post-doctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Germany from 2016 to 2017. Since 2018, he has served as an Assistant Professor in NTU’s School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering and held the position of Assistant Chair for International Engagement from 2022 to 2023. He leads the Miniature Soft Robotics Lab, where his research focuses on soft robots, miniature robots, and magnetic actuation, and his work has been widely recognized through publications in leading journals such as Nature, PNAS, Advanced Materials, and Science Advances, along with international media coverage.
