Combating honey fraud
The Honey Authenticity Network (HAN) is dedicated to combating honey fraud and supporting ethical beekeeping worldwide. One-third of traded honey is fake or adulterated, leading to falling prices and threatening bees and biodiversity. HAN collaborates with beekeeping organizations like the Mexican Federation of Beekeepers, the Latin American and Caribbean Network of Fair Trade Small Producers, and Kaabnaalo’on Mayan Alliance for Bees. Through legal, scientific, and social initiatives, HAN aims to create strong regulations to prevent honey fraud, which harms consumers, producers, and ecosystems. HAN's work empowers beekeepers, ensures honey purity, and protects environmental health and biodiversity.
