Gregory S. Thomas

Medical Director of MemorialCare Heart & Vascular Institute

Dr. Thomas is the medical director of Cardiovascular Business Development for MemorialCare.

Dr. Thomas is perhaps best known as the co-leader of a joint US-Egyptian team that discovered that ancient Egyptian mummies had atherosclerosis. His teams findings in Egypt have been reported globally and in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

He earned his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco, where he also was a Regents Scholar. While in medical school, he studied at the University of California, Berkeley, earning a Masters of Public Health in Health Policy. Postgraduate training including an internship, residency and fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
