Monash‑Warwick Alliance Professor of Sustainable Chemistry at University of Warwick
Prof Greg Challis is a distinguished chemist based at University of Warwick where he holds the position of Monash‑Warwick Alliance Professor of Sustainable Chemistry, specialising in chemical and synthetic biology. He leads an interdisciplinary group whose research focuses on the discovery of microbial natural products, mapping their biosynthetic pathways, creating novel analogues through synthetic biology, and understanding how these molecules exert their biological effects. With a background spanning organic chemistry, enzymology, structural biology and genomics, Challis’s work seeks to unearth new compounds—such as antibiotics—and develop sustainable strategies to combat drug resistance and emerging superbugs.
