George Wright is Head of Internet Research and Future Services for BBC Research & Development, where he leads a cross discipline team of engineers, UX Designers, production staff and domain experts researching and creating digital products and services to help shape the future output of the media and broadcasting.

He has worked in broadcasting for more than 25 years, the last 20 of which have been in digital and new service research and development.

He has been co-ordinator or PI on a number of national and EC funded projects in both FP7 and PPP and has won international recognition for his and his team's research, including a BAFTA, EMMY and NAB Innovation award.

He began his career as a schoolboy making radio programmes for a BBC local radio station, and has been involved with a number of radio related innovations since - from early webcams, radio sent over digital TV platforms, through to the RadioDNS project and new forms of audio on the Web. He is enthusiastic about radio's future as an innovative and experimental medium that is loved and cherished by listeners.
